BTWNLNS is a cultural bridge from Berlin to Sydney. The Newtown store hosts a selection of independent publications curated by do you read me?! – Berlin’s go-to bookstore – and represents four contemporary, solid furniture design brands, who are each game-changers in their own right: New Tendency, Loehr, Objekte Unserer Tage and Neo/Craft.

In late November, BTWNLNS teamed up with the Paramount House crew (Right Angle, Paramount House Hotel, AP Bakery and Golden Age Cinema & Bar) in November to present a weekend-long program of books, design, music and cinema.

A curated mini market on Paramount’s rooftop terrace provided visitors the opportunity to browse and shop titles from the BTWNLNS Newtown store, all while enjoying Sydney’s late spring air and views across the Surry Hills skyline. A selection of furniture from designers New Tendency, Loehr and OUT were on display.

On the Saturday morning, BTWNLNS hosted Books & Breakfast with AP Bakery, treating those who make it down early to gratis croissants & batch brew to accompany their book browsing. Three very special mini book launches will took place throughout the day, too: for titles from Sam Youkilis (Loose Joints Publishing), Justsmile Magazine Issue 3 and Der Greif Issue 16 – making copies available in Australia for the first time.

BTWNLNS also found their way to the Paramount House basement, working with Golden Age Cinema & Bar for its Guest Presents series to present Victoria. Sebastian Schipper’s 2015 cinematic masterpiece that transports viewers on the streets of the Berlin neighbourhoods that BTWNLNS emerged from.
