Last Friday the NSW Government officially approved the revival of Paddington’s Verona cinema – with Golden Age returning to our roots in subterranean screen culture, set to operate the new four-screen cinema and bar planned for the site. We’ve been dreaming about this for a long time, as you can see from Tim Greer’s sketches from earlier this year above.
Designed by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, the new development restores the original brick facade of Verona while adding 64 new affordable and on-market apartments, and ground-floor retail and food and drink. With construction kicking off in late 2026, we can’t wait to bring the ticket, the bar, and the classic Friday night film back to Oxford Street.
