How can cinema be a more social experience?
Golden Age Cinema & Bar is located in the underground screening room of the former Paramount Pictures building, now known as Paramount House. Like Rooftop Cinema, Right Angle helped create Golden Age because we believe that cinema should be a social experience and unique films deserve to be shown in unique environments.
Golden Age shows films Tuesday to Sunday with an independent program that brings together classics, cults, creepies, cheapies and the best new releases of the year. The bar is open to the public and is not your typical cinema offering, but a bar in its own right. The bar takes special care with its drinks list and menu, and behind the curtain is a secret mirrored stage which hosts regular live performances from some of Australia’s most talented musicians.
Beyond the venue, Golden Age also produce special cinema experiences, like Jaws at the Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool, Bladerunner on an inner-city rooftop and Hollywood Nights, an outdoor cinema run as part of Spectrum Now.
In 2013, it won Best Arts Program in the FBi Sydney Music Arts & Culture Awards. Golden Age has also received flattery and praise from publications such as The New York Times, Monocle, Louis Vuitton Sydney City Guide and many others.
