Rethinking Australia's front door
Sydney Airport is the gateway to Australia, welcoming 44.4 million passengers in 2018 even after the Covid-19 pandemic is forecast to welcome over 65 million passengers by 2039.
In 2019, Right Angle was engaged by SYD to assist with: long-range research and insights on customers and product; placemaking and retail concept development for individual building; and design and delivery advisory.
Our first piece of work on the project identified the four most significant long-term trends that will impact the lives of all future travellers, visitors and workers at Sydney Airport. We provided quantitative and qualitative proof of these trends in action and forecasted what they would mean to SYD by 2040 in terms of passenger needs and experiences. We then built on these trends by presenting a global best-in-show product case study examining everything from WeCompany’s AI-led bookings management system to the Rijksmuseum’s public art collaboration with Schiphol Airport.
Right Angle’s initial trend work has helped enhance SYD’s vision for the future and we are working to assist the airport in the development of best-in-class placemaking, commercial and retail concepts.
