Right Angle have been working in Adelaide for the best part of a decade and in recent years have played an important role in the city's most significant act of urban renewal – Lot Fourteen. Our first engagement with the site was working alongside Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Woods Bagot on the winning submission for the Adelaide Contemporary International Design Competition.

The highly competitive competition saw a staggering 107 submissions, before our project team were shortlisted alongside some of the biggest names in international architecture, including Bjarke Ingels Group, Adjaye Associates and David Chipperfield Architects. The institution has recently been named Tarrkarri – Centre for First Nations Cultures and as the core cultural anchor of the precinct is set to be a benchmark for showcasing the rich, diverse and enduring cultures of Australia’s First Nations peoples in our country.

“Adelaide Contemporary is a new cultural paradigm that places the idea of the ‘contemporary’ within an expanded time frame, linking the deep history of Aboriginal culture, the historical and geographic breadth of the Art Gallery of South Australia’s collection, the perpetual present of festivals and events, and art into the future.”
