A new concept place for you, me, all of us.
Having started way back in 2005, Right Angle was feeling pretty established, until we started working for KOKUYO who began in 1905. Over their 120 years they have grown from producing covers for receipt books to being one of the leading stationery manufacturers in Japan. They also now design office spaces, make and license furniture, and have just started creating residential accommodation to name but a few of their business ventures. KOKUYO approached Right Angle to help them understand the Australian market and launch a new lifestyle retail concept to the world.

It’s hard to describe the services we've provided to KOKUYO using traditional consultancy language, so we here are just few things we have done: provided bi-lingual quantitative and qualitative research to explain Australin audiences; led neighbourhood study-tours for their design, brand and business teams; sourced potential retail venues and helped negotiate leases; produced a three-week retail pop-up shop at Paramount House; played matchmaker for the right publicist, design partners and media people; given advice on architectural design for the store and product selection within it; visited their headquarters to understand their history and ethos; eaten hotdogs with them at the baseball… twice.

Our relationship with KOKUYO is probably best described as ‘an alliance for life’ – one that has forced us to learn new ways of thinking, behaving, communicating, designing and being as a company. HOW WE LIVE is the name that we’ve all chosen to describe the new lifestyle retail concept that we’ve been working on and we can’t wait to show it to the world.
