Rediscovering Sydney Harbour’s forgotten treasures
The Rocks and Darling Harbour – two distinct but overlapping neighbourhoods that simultaneously represent visions of Sydney’s past and future – together have the capacity to lead Australia into a new phase of city-building where urban centres are for local living and lifestyle as much as they are for tourism and commerce.

In 2020, Placemaking NSW engaged Right Angle to provide qualitative and quantitative place insights and to help guide decisions about the trajectory of both precincts through:
The exploration of impactful and long-term lifestyle trends
The development of nuanced psychographic audience profiles
In-depth studies on the mechanics of comparative local and global benchmarks
We then examined the research implications through a placemaking framework – identifying key opportunities and providing high-level, actionable initiatives. The opportunities and initiatives have helped guide investment to maximise public benefit and expedite the delivery of Property NSW’s visions for The Rocks and Darling Harbour.
